RBT ACE PDU Events: Guide

How to verify a provider, choose an event, participate, and keep the right record.

RBT ACE PDU events can support professional development when the provider, event, content, participation, and documentation meet current BACB instructions. ACE stands for Authorized Continuing Education, but an event’s title or a registration page alone does not prove that it is an eligible RBT professional-development event.

Use the current BACB professional-development guidance, the ACE Provider materials, and the instructions supplied with the event. This article gives a verification workflow; it does not decide whether a specific event satisfies an individual RBT’s recertification cycle.

What RBT ACE PDU events are

ACE events are professional-development events offered by authorized ACE Providers. Current BACB materials describe them as one possible route for RBT professional development, alongside organization-provided In-Service training and qualifying university behavior-analytic coursework.

Events may be offered outside company time and can use formats such as online webinars or conferences. The format is not the only test. The event must be designed for appropriate learning, use the current documentation process, and meet the applicable content and participation rules.

Verify the ACE provider

Before registering, check the provider through the current BACB authorized-provider resources. Use the provider’s official name and confirm that its authorization applies to the type of RBT professional development being offered. A third-party listing, old screenshot, or social-media post can be out of date.

  • Open the current BACB provider information.
  • Match the provider name to the event registration page.
  • Check whether the provider describes an RBT-specific event or a different type of continuing education.
  • Read the current instructions for forms, attendance, and submission.

If the provider cannot explain which current form and process apply, ask before paying or attending. Do not assume that authorization for one audience automatically covers every event or every certification type.

Check the event itself

Read the event title, description, date, duration, delivery method, learning objectives, and participation requirements. An eligible professional-development event should be intentionally structured to deliver knowledge, skills, or competencies related to appropriate RBT content. A passive advertisement or unstructured discussion may not answer that need.

Ask whether the event is open to RBTs, whether the listed PDU value is stated on the current form, and whether the event requires attendance for its full duration. Keep the registration confirmation, but do not treat it as the completion record.

Attend and participate

Follow the attendance and active-participation instructions. Current guidance emphasizes that participants should be present for the entire professional-development event. Structured activities may include answering questions, role-play, or other active student-responding tasks.

Do not register for an event that you cannot attend in the required format. If a technical problem interrupts participation, ask the provider how it is documented. Do not reconstruct attendance later or sign a form that does not accurately describe what happened.

Keep a brief learning note: what the event covered, what question it clarified, and what follow-up may be useful with a supervisor. A learning note supports responsible application, but it does not replace the official event form.

Keep the correct ACE form

ACE events use the current RBT Professional Development: ACE Event form described in BACB materials. Complete the form according to the provider’s instructions and keep the required fields intact. Do not add company branding, remove fields, or redesign a BACB form unless the current permission and instructions expressly allow it.

Review the provider name, event title, date, attendance, learning evidence, and signatures before submitting. If the provider supplies a completed document, check that your name and event details match the registration and account record. Keep the file in an authorized location and protect any personal information.

Review the record after the event

After the event, follow the current BACB account instructions for uploading or recording the professional development. A submission may show pending, returned, or incomplete status before it is resolved. Save confirmation and respond through the approved route if additional information is requested.

Compare the account entry with the form. The provider, event, date, and PDU information should not conflict. If something is wrong, ask the provider or appropriate BACB support route how to correct it. Do not alter a document to make an event appear to meet a requirement that it did not meet.

Common ACE documentation mistakes

  • Trusting the title: an event says “RBT” but the provider or current authorization is not verified.
  • Using an old form: a saved PDF is assumed to be the current version.
  • Counting registration: payment or enrollment is treated as completed participation.
  • Leaving early: the record claims full attendance when the event was not completed.
  • Changing the form: required content is removed or a logo is added without permission.
  • Skipping account review: a pending or returned entry is never corrected.

The reliable sequence is verify the provider, check the event, attend and participate, complete the current form, and review the account status. That sequence protects the record without making a promise about an individual outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Is every ACE webinar an RBT PDU event?

No. Verify the provider, RBT-specific event requirements, content, attendance, and current documentation process.

Can I use an event certificate?

A certificate may support the record, but it does not automatically replace the current ACE Event form or account process.

Do I have to attend the entire event?

Current professional-development guidance emphasizes full participation. Follow the provider’s current attendance instructions and document interruptions accurately.

What if the event is for BCBAs and RBTs together?

Check whether the provider identifies an eligible RBT professional-development component and supplies the correct documentation. Shared attendance alone does not answer the eligibility question.
